You begin each session of Faily Brakes as a poor schmuck whose brakes go out during a nice Sunday drive. You go zipping over the guardrail, right over an oncoming train. It’s awesome. Then Brake Guy’s fate is entirely in your hands. You’ll go careening over the hill, which is dotted with trees, bridges, rocks, and other obstacles aching to make you come to a sudden, painful stop. There are also roads, lakes, and train tracks, the latter two of which you’re supposed to leap over using ramps (unless you can find and use narrow passageways that let you skirt around objects). Your tumble goes on forever, so the point is to last as long as possible. Sound fun? In theory, Faily Brakes should be tons of fun. It’s wacky, it’s based on a solid premise, and it has a great sense of humor — all winning stuff to help it stand out in the digital marketplace’s huge “endless action” market. This update also includes new "secret" limited time cars which can be found in the new level in the game, and a completely revamped menu system which allows you to outfit your characters, choose vehicles, and choose environments all from the same screen. Faily Brakes has always been among my favorite endless high score chasers, and it's only gotten better over the course of two years thanks to numerous content updates like today's.
A mix of endless runner style games & ragdoll physics, Faily Brakes is a free to play game where the main aim is to set a high score as well as earn coins to purchase different types of cars. Can you guess how this review is going to go? The premise is simple, the brakes on your car have stopped working forcing you off the road & down an endless slope with all manner of obstacles in your path. The speed is set & all you can do is steer to the left & right to avoid the many obstacles that stand in your way. Steering isn’t as straightforward as you might think as the cars have an tendency to drift when the buttons are pushed for too long. When you’re trying desperately to move in between trees, rocks & cars a badly timed drift can be the difference between sneaking through small gaps or ending up as a smear across the mountainside. The further you make it, the higher the score. Even if you crash you’ll be able to gain a little more distance as your driver is launched from the car at speed. This is at least mildly entertaining the first couple of time but like the game as a whole it quickly becomes repetitive & uninteresting. Faily Brakes is officially a game about surviving in a car with busted brakes for as long as possible.
Every couple of runs will see an ad pop up on the screen also, it’s not unexpected for a free to play game & they can be disabled with a one-time purchase of any car. That might seem like a decent deal but bear in mind how little actual gameplay there is here.In fact that there are so many cars on sale is easily the worst thing about this game. In my store I currently own 3 different cars. As it stands Faily Brakes is 5 minutes of barely-fun gameplay, offering nothing original yet the developers found the time to design 50 odd cars & stick a price tag on them. This game is basically a physics based fun packed game game. As the player, your car had a brake failure and you are to steer your way while avoiding obstacles and crashes. You can also destroy obstacles with your shield. During the game, as you go, you collect coins. As you play the game, you will unlock unique vehicles. The controls of this game is good with simple controls. The graphics of this game isn’t really over the top, low polygon graphics style that really fits the idea and concept of the game.
The gameplay is what you’d expect avoid obstacles, don’t crash into other cars, trees, rocks, or trains pretty simple. But the Game Over scene? The Game Over scene for Faily Brakes is probably the most amazingly extraordinary part of this entire game! With proper slow motion physics, and a moving camera to add extra effect, the crash scenes Game Over scene is amazing.
